Throughout the year, Harmony Home holds special contests and events to bring light to the issue of child abuse in our community and prevent it from occurring. Some of these events are in person, such as Party in the Park for Prevention, while others are online via our social media accounts. We invite you to join us in bringing awareness of child abuse.

Plant a Pinwheel Garden with Harmony Home

The blue pinwheel represents innocence and is a national symbol for child abuse prevention. Pinwheels reflect the bright future all children deserve. The pinwheel is a positive emblem of the effect we can have when we work together to prevent child abuse. A pinwheel garden planting happens at the beginning of April via Facebook Live at Harmony Home CAC as our digital kickoff to Child Abuse Prevention Month. Community members of all ages are encouraged to join our efforts by planting blue pinwheels in the yards of their homes.

Add us on Facebook today and join us in planting a pinwheel garden via Facebook Live! Pinwheels can be purchased and picked up from Harmony Home; just give us a call at 432.333.5233, and we will get them ready for you!

Party in the Parking Lot for Prevention

Harmony Home hosts a Party in the Parking Lot beginning in early April to kick off Child Abuse Awareness Month yearly. This year’s Party in the Parking Lot is anticipated to be bigger and better than ever! You won’t want to miss this family bonding day full of music, games, food, raffles, prizes, and fun for all ages!

Child Abuse Awareness Coloring Contest

Our Coloring Contest is for kindergarten through 5th grade and is distributed to ECISD Elementary Schools. When your student brings home their coloring sheet this year, encourage them to bring it to life! Voting for the top 8 winners takes place online, and the top 3 of the very best from each grade level will be awarded at the 2025 Party in the Parking Lot. Call (432) 333-5233 to turn in your child’s completed coloring sheet.

Blue Ribbon Week

Blue Ribbon Week is geared toward our students. We hope these fun outfit suggestions will start the conversation amongst children and adults about Child Abuse Prevention Measures. We want our entire community’s participation as we come together to spread awareness for child abuse prevention.

Blue Door Contest

Show your support for the prevention of child abuse and maltreatment. Once you have decorated your door blue, please post it on Facebook, tag Harmony Home Children’s Advocacy Center, and use #BlueTheBasin, #EveryChildMatters, or #NoExcuseForChildAbuse.

Submissions for this contest run throughout April.
