Family Advocate interns support the Family Services team in providing wrap-around services to all clients.  Interns will gain a basic knowledge of the inner workings of a multi-disciplinary team under a CAC model and the impact of child abuse on a family. Interns will have the opportunity to enhance their case management, time management, and crisis management skills while working with families. 

Internship Requirements

· Complete the application, pass background checks, and participate in the interview process.

· Commit to one semester at HHCAC.

· Participate in a mandatory orientation before the start date.

· Commit to 15 hours per week.

· Must be a student completing coursework in human development, criminal justice, social work, or other related fields. 

· Attend monthly group supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide supportive case-management activities to caregivers including follow-up calls, assessment of ongoing needs, referrals to community programs, and education and assistance with accessing Crime Victims’ Compensation, VINE, etc. 

· Offer Initial and Follow Up Caregiver Surveys to appropriate clients to help gauge program and Center effectiveness. 

· Support Family Advocates in procuring concrete services for families such as housing, domestic violence intervention, food, transportation, etc.

· Assist with the completion of Caregiver Rapid Trauma Screenings and process referrals for on/off-site mental health treatment.

· Observe and participate in CPT meetings and in-house case reviews to communicate and discuss the unique needs of the child and family.

· Offer court education and support, including court orientation and accompaniment.

· Assist in the coordination and execution of client events such as Back to School, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kids in Court, Camps, etc. 

Child Advocate Interns support the Family Services team in providing crisis and support services to children while at the Center. Interns will gain a basic knowledge of the inner workings of a multi-disciplinary team under a CAC model and the impact of child abuse on a family.  Interns will have the opportunity to enhance their creativity while working with children in the Family Room and coordinating client events and activities.

Internship Requirements

· Complete the application, pass background checks, and participate in the interview process.

· Commit to one semester or summer semester at HHCAC.

· Participate in mandatory orientation before the start date.

· Commit to 15 hours per week.

· Must be a student completing coursework in human development, family studies, social work or other fields related to working with children and families.

· Attend monthly group supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide safety, comfort, and theme-related engaging activities for all children in the Family Room. 

· Interact with children and family members as they attend therapy sessions to maintain client relationships and engagement.

· Assist with the completion of Youth Rapid Trauma Screenings and process referrals to on/off-site mental health treatment.

· Observe and participate in in-house case review to communicate and discuss the unique needs of the child and family dynamics.

· Offer court education and support, including court orientation and accompaniment.

· Offer medical accompaniment to children as needed for sexual and physical abuse exams, with required state training.

· Assist with the coordination and execution of special client events and activities such as Birthday Acknowledgement, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Backpack Drives, Spring/Summer Camps, Kids in Court, etc.

· Work with the Mental Health Department to coordinate client and caregiver support groups.

· Maintain client necessity and comfort closets and ensure necessary, basic needs items are made available to clients as needed.

Child Protection Team interns support the Direct Services Program comprised of Child Protection Team Relations and Forensic Interviewing. CPT Interns will assist the MDT Coordinator in ensuring effective communication and collaboration exists among partners by assisting with team meetings and activities, reviewing statewide intake reports, and case data entry. Interns will have the opportunity to review recorded forensic interviews and observe/work alongside CAC staff and partners to understand the inner workings of a multi-disciplinary team under a CAC model and the impact of child abuse on a family.

· Attend monthly group supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Review child abuse and neglect reports alongside the CPT Coordinator to understand which reports meet existing HHCAC criteria.

· Assist with the creation of CPT case review logs and preparations for bi-weekly meetings.

· Attend CPT case review meetings to observe the formal process that enables the CPT to monitor and assess its effectiveness and ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.

· Record case dispositions and other necessary information into the CAC state-wide database.

· Work with Forensic Interviewers to learn the different strategies for interviewing children and adolescents and review recorded interviews.

· Observe criminal and CPS court hearings involving sexual and physical abuse.

· Assist with research and data collection from local, state, and national resources for the Community Needs Assessment and other grant related activities.

Prevention/ Community Outreach interns support the Prevention Department in the development, planning, and execution of community events and activities focused on child abuse prevention and education. Interns will assist with community engagement and information dissemination about child abuse prevention to increase community-wide understanding of how to identify, respond, react, and report child abuse.

· Must be a student completing coursework in social work, teaching, marketing/communications, and other related fields.

· Attend monthly group supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Assist in the planning, organizing, and execution of community events and activities including CHIC Conference, Champions 4 Children Conference, Party in the Parking Lot, etc. 

· Identify and engage target audiences in marking and promoting events through digital and traditional strategies. 

· Create effective materials and messaging for prevention education and awareness.

· Assist Prevention Staff with managing resource booths at various community events to distribute materials and engage with the community and partner agencies.

· Assist Prevention Staff with the facilitation of evidence-based training such as Darkness to Light and Child Safety Matters and other trainings such as Gaining Confidence in Reporting. 

· Assist in the development of age-appropriate educational materials and curricula for children and adults.

· Attend CPT case review meetings to observe the formal process that enables the CPT to monitor and assess its effectiveness and ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.

· Record case dispositions and other necessary information into the CAC state-wide database.

· Work with Forensic Interviewers to learn the different strategies for interviewing children and adolescents and review recorded interviews.

· Assist with research and data collection from local, state, and national resources for the Community Needs Assessment and other grant related activities.

Interns will assist the Development Department in securing funding for programs, executing client affinity programs, and seeking out and promoting opportunities to share the HHCAC mission with the community. The Development Interns will process donations, thank and steward donors, and assist with the execution of fundraising events while gaining a basic understanding of the inner workings of a multi-disciplinary team under a CAC model and the impact of child abuse on a family

Internship Requirements

· Must be a student completing coursework in business, office administration, communications, marketing, and other related fields.

· Attend monthly group supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Create and manage social media, advertising, and web content to increase online engagement through new marketing techniques.

· Create a video for the CAC that gives a virtual tour of the building and includes personal testimonies from staff and previous clients.

· Attend networking events with the Funds Development Director and establish connections with local businesses and organizations. 

· Accompany the Funds Development Director while speaking to local groups/organizations about the Center.

· Help cultivate relationships with donors (such as gift drop-offs and birthday recognition).

· Assist with the planning, coordination and execution of fundraising events including Bingo and Bubbly, Pickleball, etc.

· Assist with the coordination of donations for special client events such as Back to School, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.

· Research and prepare background for individuals, corporations, and other potential sponsors and donors.
